Biography

Independent expert in financial regulation, financial policy, sustainable finance, communication. Promoting effective regulation, sound risk management, efficient markets, ambitious ESG policies and financial stability, collaborating with thinktanks and industry associations in France, Europe and at international level. Member of European Banking Authority (EBA) Banking Stakeholder Group since 2018. Chaired the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME)’s Prudential Regulatory Board from 2019 to 2023.

Retired from BNP Paribas since January 2023, where she was most recently responsible for the definition of BNP Paribas responses to new regulations, with a focus on prudential, capital markets and ESG regulations. She was also in charge of the group's relationships with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and peers, as relates to financial regulation and policies.With more than 40 years experience in the banking sector, of which 30 at Paribas, then BNP Paribas, her carreer covered a wide range of responsabilities such as Head of Official Institutions Coverage, as well as Risk, Economic Capital, Credit Portfolio Management and Investor Relations functions.

Having been actively involved in crisis management, including the 2007-2008 Global Financial Crisis, the Eurozone crisis, the COVID cris, as well as transformative strategies such as BNP Paribas' cross border acquisitions in Italy and in Belgium, and development of sustainable finance from a business, risk, and reporting standpoints, Veronique brings extensive experience as well as outstanding international network to her new independent expert role, through speaking engagements, policy papers development, and senior advisory work for public and private organisations that share her excellence and highest ethical standards.

She has been serving as a member of the Board of Directors of BNP Paribas UK Holdings Ltd from 2017 to 2019
